Today, I am excited to share some photos from a lovely branding photography session in Reading with my dear friend Joyce Connor.
Joyce has a brilliant personality and is a fabulous make-up artist. I think you will enjoy getting to know her through this little interview and the images we created together.
Tell me about your business: when did it start and what's the idea behind it?
Im a freelance professional makeup artist based in Reading, Berkshire. I started my business in 1997. I was living in New York from 1995 to 1996. I used to go and have my makeup done at the department stores. I’d never had my makeup done before and it made me feel so good. When I returned to the UK I enrolled on a beauty and makeup course because I wanted to give women that same feeling I had when I looked in the mirror. At first I didn’t feel super confident and the Internet wasn’t a ‘thing’ yet! But over the years I’ve gone from mainly doing bridal work to incorporating, fashion, business, advertising, video and corporate to my portfolio. I want my business to be about feeling good but flawless. I teach skincare and makeup too.
Why did you decide to have a brand shoot? And what were your expectations?
I decided to have a brand shoot because most of my work involves someone being photographed and I wanted to have professional images for my business. I think that having professional images makes my business look more professional too. I’ve never liked being in front of the camera so it took me a while to get around to it. I knew what I wanted and I absolutely trusted Berni to listen to my ideas. I was absolutely blown away by my photos and actually want to do it all over again!
What would you recommend to someone who is looking to have a brand shoot?
I would definitely recommend having a professional photoshoot for your brand. Berni brings out the best in you and makes you feel so comfortable. When I’m looking at other businesses I always look for the ones that have professional brand photos, and they’re the ones I recommend to my friends and clients.
